Mes Valises

Packing.
It is difficult to decide what can come and what stays, predict what articles will get the most use during the year. Not to mention taking sweaters and scarves in prep for the winter feels ridiculous as it is currently averaging over 100 everyday.

I have only one full day left stateside. I'm becoming more nervous, and excited of course, but still the butterflies...

VISA

After much waiting, photocopying, and careful printing (in capital letters and black ink), I have in my possession a visa de long sejour for France, or will once I arrive in the country and register with the local police station, prove I've been born, can support myself for the time...
SO only a few more days, a bit more paperwork, long lines, bureaucracy, etc. and I will legally be living in France for the next year! I really should start packing...

Faire la cuisine

Special thanks to the gorgeous ladies who were brave enough to partake of my attempts at housewifery skills and broke bread with me this evening. It was truly lovely to catch up, we need to do it more often.
Alexium, bring more baby pics anytime, really, or better yet the beautiful boy himself! I want to check out his rolling skills.
Nik, you must enjoy the fireworks for me, and promise to get in the actual ocean this summer. And most importantly safe journeys up north, darling, I'm so excited for you.
Queen Elizabeth, thank you for a piece of your soul.
You all have been such integral parts of my life and I hope will continue to do so.

Le Debut

It seems that the beginning of this journey should be profound, deep, a start after which all will flow poetically...

Yet, its late, the nephew and are I catching up on our Indy films, and there remains a mountainous amount of unpacking to be done in order to prep for the upcoming adventure, so no great truths or witticisms will be provided, only a simple introduction to the project I am undertaking.

'en ce moment' is my means of communicating with loved ones while beginning my travels abroad. I will try and keep everyone abreast of new adventures and whatnot as well as provide copious amounts of photos.

As far as itinerary, I officially leave for Paris June 29th and I will remain in Europe until late June of 2009, a complete year abroad. During the summer, I'll be participating in a travel study program taking language/culture classes, as well as apartment hunting, and discovering the city of lights. As September comes, I'll begin my year long studies at SciencesPo, a university in the heart of the Paris, taking Econ, Poli Sci, history, and cultural classes en francais.

I will miss you all dearly, and promise to send postcards to anyone who sends me an address = )

Grosses bises!
